Vlog Blog 006: Ready, Set! 10 yrs in 10 mins w/ Roy G. Biv

Dear Fellow Memosphericists,

Remember how we chained together a story of the first 5 FULL Years of the UN from 1946 - 1950?  (The UN started in 1945, but that wasn't a full year of history, i.e. from January 1st, so we focused on the icon of the Mushroom for the Bomb instead.)  First we created 5 icons to represent the key events in UN history for those five years.

REVIEW:

1) A PLOWSHARE represents for us the 1st UN resolution calling for the conversion of Nuclear tech. to peaceful uses only in 1946.

2) An OLIVE BRANCH represents for us the declaration of United Nations Day, and the gift of peace we hope to give on that day, which was established in 1947.

3) A COMPASS represents for us the Human Rights Declaration adopted by the UN in 1948 as a moral compass in our international dealings between nations.

4) A CORNERSTONE represents for us the number 49 (7 x 7, which is also religiously significant as the traditional year when debts were forgive and land is given back to the people as an inheritance in the Torah).  This reminds us of the CORNERSTONE that was laid as the foundation for the UN headquarters building in New York City in 1949.

5) A SHIELD represents the defensive call of the UN to protect South Korea from invasion from the North.  This was a controversial decision since Taiwan represented the government of China in this decision even though the entire mainland of China had converted over to the People's Republic.

To Remember these 5 icons in order we linked them together in the chain of a crazy little cartoon story with Roger Rabbit wearing RED overalls (that RED will mean something soon).  To recap, the story was as follows:

Roger Rabbit is using a PLOWSHARE to stir up the ground in a field (maybe looking in vain for some root vegetables).  Then he gives up and uses it as a sickle to cut off some heads of grain to eat.

Tweety Bird sees Roger Rabbit's desperation for something delicious and tosses him down a little OLIVE BRANCH full of olives from up in an olive tree.

Roger Rabbit happily munches on these olives until a COMPASS in his pocket starts shaking like a crazy cartoon alarm bell.  He pulls it in to see what direction he must travel in to help someone else out next (just as he has been helped).

After following the compass, Roger Rabbit finds another little Rabbit desperately trying to push a CORNERSTONE into place to build a little shelter since he has heard that is the first piece you need in any building.  With Roger helping to push, they finally get it in place.  Then then put of 3 other little stakes for corners to their building and look for a roof.

When then go over to a scrap heap, they find an old giant rushed SHIELD, which they take and hoist up on top of their little makeshift shelter.  And that's a wrap.  We are down.

The more you visualize clearly this little story considering the 12 points emphasized by Lindamood-Bell memory retention and comprehension Visualizing programs (What, Sound, When, Shape, Where, Size, Movement, Mood, Number, Perspective, Background, & Color), the more this little sequence of five icons will be impossible for you to forget.

FINALLY, as icing on the cake, me made a little Acronym to link these 5 icons to the real life history of the post-WW2 era.  After the war their were pock marks all over the ground in Europe from bombing, like on the surface of the moon.  POCKS is like POCCS, Plowshare, Olive Branch, Compass, Cornerstone, & Shield.  This gave us the gift of failsafe redundancy in our memory engineering.

Ready, Set: 10 years in 10 minute Vlogs for 1951-2000:

Using everything we've learned so far, and adding a little structured COLOR with ROY G. BIV, we will now cover a series of Vlogs for UN history in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, & 90s. The Rainbow's orderly namesake ROY G. BIV reminds us of the natural order of Red Orange Green Blue Purple (purple can be split into Indigo--a Bluish Purple, and Violet--a Redish Purple, but we'll just call purple, purple).  I asked you to visualize Roger Rabbit's overalls in the first story as RED because I wanted to start bringing that first color into the 1940s sequence.  Here's how we'll Peg, Color and Chain the rest of our memory train stops through the memosphere of 20th Century UN history:

RED -- How we began with Roger Rabbit in the late 40s to 1950.

ORANGE THEME: 1951-1960, pegged to Logical Icons 1-10 and chained linked in a story.

YELLOW THEME: 1961-1970, pegged to Logical Icons 11-20 and chained linked in a story.

GREEN THEME: 1971-1980, pegged to Logical Icons 21-30 and chained linked in a story.

BLUE THEME: 1981-1990, pegged to Logical Icons 31-40 and chained linked in a story.

PURPLE THEME (i.e. Ingio & Violet): 1991-2000, pegged to 41-50 and chained linked as well.

It's going to be fun.  I hope you enjoy this imagination express through 50 years of history!  Please comment and let me know what you think.
