Vlog Blog 001: The Need for Sequence and Homework

Follow up Blog for our first introductory Vlog.  Please watch the following video before reading on:

Hello my dear fellow memosphericists:

Thank you for your interest in joining me on this journey of mentally encoding the memosphere of Languages, Science, History and Geography.  A word of caution though to all who would try climbing this mountain with me: you can't take just what you like and leave the rest.  It doesn't work that way.  You can't climb the mountain without doing the exercises--at least not with me.  Don't waste your time watching my videos on youtube and reading my blog if you are unwilling to feel a little discomfort in stretching out in all the mental yoga we are about to do.

This program is NOT for dogmatists of personal dignity.  BEWARE! if that might be you.  If dignity and speaking and listening to only polite flattering things matters a great deal to you, run away now!  Close this window!  Surf away to another web page!  If you're not sure, let me spell this out as clearly as I can.

The reason why the process of remembering hundreds of thousands of facts perfectly is not a dignified process is that you have to be willing to roll around in the mud of many absurdities and even occasionally a few obscenities--and on top of that it will usually feel intentionally gratuitous.  The more squeamish you are about that, the more you will currently be cut off from all the feats of the international Memory Olympics and the more you will typify the reason why most people in developed countries with the means to invest in education haven't learned to have a super powered memory already--most people are too proud of their own dignity to travel down this road mentally.  If you can't get silly and ridiculous, don't follow me on this blog.

Maybe someday I'll design and develop a simplified light-weight memory mastery version of this program for those stubborn souls who won't be moved come hell or high water out of their own comfort zones, but that time is not now.  And don't hold your breath waiting for me to ever really find time to develop that other system.  I really like the excitement of going hard core in everything and don't find much time for the mundane.  This is the original heavy-weight version of how to develop a super powered memory and master the any amount of the memosphere that you desire.  Come along only if you dare.  And if you dare, you better watch and read everything in sequence, do your homework, and post questions when you have them.

    Here's your first assignment:

(A) Watch this video about the accomplishments of memory athletes to get motivated:

(B) Read the first 62 pages (up through the Roman Room System) of this free book in an online library by Tony Buzan, the founder of the Memory Olympics to complete your prerequisite warm up:

 http://content.yudu.com/Library/A17kvn/UseYourMemoryTonyBuz/resources/index.htm?referrerUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.yudu.com%2Fitem%2Fdetails%2F52788%2FUse-Your-Memory---Tony-Buzan.pdf

(C) Watch part of the movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit to BOTH make sure you can handle the kind of absurd and gratuitous images we are going to constantly work with AND to complete a mental warm up for the kind of thinking we are going to engage it.  Roger Rabbit is our mascot, so here's the link to watch the first 10 minutes of his movie:

Don't worry, the point is not to "like" the movie.  Honestly, I don't even like the movie.  However, the use of extreme exaggeration in mixing reality with cartoons is important in unlocking the potential of human memory.  Then, if you want to watch a whole movie for inspiration and for memorable bizarre imagery that is a true pleasure to watch, check out the the film "What The Bleep?! Down The Rabbit Hole" about the intersections between Quantum Physics and Neural Science and the true power of our thoughts.  It should definitely help you with any doubts that might hold you back about the potential of your human mind.  Here's the link:

Welcome aboard!
